Babies, hotels, dentals and.. blue tongued lizards??

Recently, a cousin of Lan's had her second child.

Big deal right? Not really given it was the second time (ignoring the fact that it was the first girl).

What made it blog-worthy is the circumstances in which she chose (yes, she chose) to have her baby.

She was able to pick the date, time, setting and the procedure (elective c-section??).

Imagine said daughter finding out that her date of birth was artificially chosen by her mother when she is old enough to ask. Awkward.

Anyway there may have be an error in translation but the private hospital then moved cousin to an all expenses paid for 5 star hotel room post-birthing extraction to allow husband to keep company. Fair enough with the husband part. However the part where it goes overboard (if it hasn't already) is how cousin has her own private nurse on call for the entire duration of her hotel stay!

Lan then made the philosophical argument that the extra money that had gone into all this could have gone to more worthy causes such as improving the standards of post-parturient care in third world nations such as Viet Nam where mothers have to share their hospital bed with another mother. One on each end.

Lan then rather enjoyed sitting high up on her pedestal munching happily on bánh xèo. It was all too unfortunate when she became complacent and then began casually talking about dentals in geriatric cats costing a few hundred dollars due to additional need for pre-anaesthetic screening. Her companion then innocently then enquired whether that money would have been better invested in third world countries. 

Oops.

Animals do need dentals too though!

Random: Lan's sibling has just busted into her room scuttling across the floor in a lizard-like way whilst flicking his tongue in and out. What prompted this? The consumption of a lolly that stains your tongue blue.

Fantastic.

UPDATE: Aforementioned sibling has again busted into Lan's room in a panic saying he cannot remove the blue stainage and that he had even used the tongue scraper 5 times to no avail. Pity.
